Laboring on Labor Day

WARNING!! LONG POST!!!

So, I have been lucky enough to have enough time off from work to be able to spend 2 weeks with my husband. Fortunately, we got lucky enough to have our house close escrow so we could spend our time off getting settled. We did, however, move on the hottest day of the summer; some thermometers reading up to 110 degrees...ouch. Then we spent the next week doing many projects. We started by taking off cabinet doors. The plan is to replace them with new doors and refinish them; viola! New kitchen!
Before and after cabinets: we painted the interior and removed the doors for prep to replace the doors, get new counter tops, and replace hardware and flooring.

Next, we spent a couple days working on demolishing and remodeling the upstairs bathroom. With my family in town, we had the man power and the expertise to get a lot done. Enjoy the series of pictures!

Before picture of the upstairs bathroom: the bank actually painted it before we moved in. Just thought you would like to get the full effect of it's ugliness.

Demolishing the ugly blue bathroom.

My dad helping us lay the new floor support.

My brothers enjoyed the toilet a little too much...

My mom's leg was the first casualty of the remodeling project.

It got a little dusty at times...

Family dinner...no dining table yet.

Laying tile is pretty labor intensive. This was taking place at 11:00 at night. Fun.

Installing the sink and hardware.

This is what it currently looks like. It still needs some paint, a window treatment, some furniture and a little decorating help, but it's getting there!!! Hard to believe that used to be the ugly blue bathroom, huh?

Thanks to my family for coming down to help out for a few days! Keep checking back for the progress of the rest of the millions of remodeling projects.
