Where can you get all those things in one place? Off the coast of good ol' Southern California of course! This last week my dad and 2 youngest bobo's (what I call my brothers) have been visiting. Over the weekend we went on a crazy adventure to Catalina Island.
We saw a lot of bison up close and a little too personal. They are only about 50 feet away in this picture, and we got much closer at times!
We first took a ferry to their Southernmost port called Avalon. There we walked around and ate salt water taffy while waiting for our shuttle bus. That shuttle drove us about 10 miles to the top of the island where the "Airport in the Sky" was waiting for us. From this airport, youcould see 360 degrees. Pretty cool.
At the top of one of the hills. This hike always had a great view of the ocean.
That started our trek to the next port of Two Harbors. We had our our gear on our backs and hiked 8.5 miles of what we thought would be all downhill. Alas, that was not so. We went all the way down to sea level, then almost all the way back upto our starting height of 16oo feet, only to go all the way back down again. But we made it!
Haha. This one is just funny!
The next day we spent the entire day in a kayak. Well, we got out a couple times to snorkel, but you get the idea. The snorkeling was awesome! A little cold, but beautiful and so much wildlife!
Ricky and I getting ready to jump in and do some snorkeling.
The littlest bobo Alex (or as I call him, Alejandorito)
The next day we got up early and went fishing in our kayaks. I've never done that before. It was really something else to be sitting low to the ocean and having little bait fish jumping around you (especially since you know jumping bait fish means big predators in the area). I didn't fish because I didn't have a license, but it was fun watching my little bobos fish.
The other bobo Darren, fighter of the Zargons, caught the first fish
It was a great trip. Only downside is I sunburned my feet so bad it's excruciatingly painful to walk. haha. How embarrassing! Well, it is what it is! The price of a good time :)
The clan of misfit kids!
