Goodbye Junk in the Trunk

Sometimes I wonder about the sanity of my husband and I. We often embark on crazy adventures (such as buying a fixer-upper house, both going to graduate school) and most recently starting a detox/purifying diet. Say what? Yea, this means all we're eating are fresh fruits and veggies (let me clarify, you have to eat 2x more veggies than fruit...yikes). On the Standard Process Program we're doing, you are permitted 2 protein shakes/day, which, of course, are made from fresh fruits and veggies. Why are we doing this crazy thing, you ask? Have you ever felt like you've gotten into a rut, eating junk, turning up your nose at the good healthy stuff, feeling tired all the time, feeling lazing and having an upset stomach to almost everything that tastes good? Well, we've experienced some (or maybe all!) of those and thought we'd try cleaning out our system. We are on day 4 of 21 and it has been fantastic! The first 3 days were pretty tough, but we've been having fun creating new veggie dishes. On top of that, we've both lost weight (although I am trying really hard to stuff my face so I don't lose weight). Ricky is already down nearly 10 pounds and I've lost 6 (like I said...trying to stuff my face!). I guess that's what happens when you get rid of all the trash in your system. Now I just have to increase the amount of weight I lift and bulk up a bit. That'll add some poundage!

hahaha. Yep. It's slowed down since then (thank goodness!). It's been tough but a lot of fun. :)
