Seeing With One Eye

One thing I love about doing photography is that you get to see the world in a different way. When you carry a camera, you notice the details. Instead of just running around, trying to get the "to do" list checked off, you are forced to pause.

Pause. Breathe. Look. See.

I don't think I ever really saw the world before. There is so much beauty all around us. The rusty old buildings create patterns of color. The spiky mean looking cacti have beautiful flowers and patterns. I find that when I'm looking through the lens, I see more of God's creations with one eye, than I typically see with two during the rest of my day with two eyes. I slip into another world where I can appreciate each creation individually. It is neat to appreciate each aspect of this world, rather than just barely take in the whole picture.

After spending some time finding the beauty in my own backyard (literally), I've learned that I need to be more present during my day. I've thought about walking around with only one eye open...but that might be weird :)

I posted a few more of these pics on my FB website:  https://www.facebook.com/AlannaRenePhotography

Gorgeous! I love the way you made the succulents look so beautiful, soft and glowy. I want to see the rest of the yard! ;)

Thanks Alicia! But I have to say, there is a reason I took these close up :) Let's just say I'm a little behind on the weeding!
