Looking Into the Sun

Did anyone see the eclipse yesterday?  I'm up in San Jose so I wasn't in the "prime" place to see it, and it wasn't a total eclipse, but it was still awesome :)  Grandpa was at the house and we started by looking at the eclipse through the pin hole in the card trick. That was fun and all, but not as cool as actually seeing the eclipse first hand. Despite grandpa's warnings that we'd all be blind as soon as we looked at the sun, we decided to try anyway. We got 4 pairs of (super cheap) but polarized sunglasses, stacked them on top of each other, and looked up. Besides the slightly pinkish tint, we could totally see the shadow over the sun! It was awesome. I guess I should put the caveat in that you "shouldn't try this at home."

This is pretty much what it looked like through the glasses...except the sun looked pink and the sky was purple!

Or you could just get eclipse glasses. :-p Glad you got to see it though! I had the eclipse glasses, but it was overcast from our area and we missed the entire thing. :(

That would have been the smart thing to do Melanie! Lol. We didn't even know about the eclipse until Grandpa said something. I also have no idea where to get eclipse glasses :)
